The Green Show is postponed indefinitely

Unfortunately, The Green Show has been postponed indefinitely. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

We discovered that small companies did not have the budget to exhibit at a major show, and that larger companies did not necessarily want the two-way conversation afforded by an 'green' exhibition. We also discovered that the potential audience for a consumer 'green' show is limited: Some environmentally switched-on people were prepared to make the effort to come along, but in the main, there was considerable apathy from 'the man in the street.'

It's possible that someone will stage a large and successful 'green' show in London, as they do in other major cities around the world. We wish them good luck, and will be interested to speak with them if they wish to try.

The Green Show's Dates Change

Demand for The Green Show has far exceeded that of The Family Show. We have therefore decided to incorporate The Family Show into a zone within The Green Show and expand The Green Show. To ensure that we offer our visitors everything they are expecting, and more, we have also made the decision to postpone the show until October. The new dates are October 25 and 26, 2008. Any tickets that have already been purchased are still valid for the new dates, and we look forward to seeing you at what will now be an even better show! Download press release.

Tree Sponsorship

The Green Show has sponsored 2,000 trees in Ethiopia to help offset the show

Sponsor Trees provides innovative green solutions to help build a sustainable future. They are part of one of the largest tree planting organisations world wide, planting over 1 million trees every month. They bring to businesses the opportunity to further improve the profile of the organisation, often turning round a product or service that has a negative impact on the environment to greatly benefiting the environment. This is all achieved simply by planting trees.

Zipcar

The Green Show has secured a great deal for all visitors with Zipcar

A Zipcar is a car sharing kind of car. Drive Minis, hybrids, BMWs, people carriers and more, by the hour or day. Includes petrol, congestion charge, insurance and reserved parking. It's good for the environment and heaven for your pocket.

Be sure to make a visit to their stand and see how Zipcar can save you even more money than usual, and help you save the planet!

Max McMurdo

Max McMurdo, founder of Reestore, will be speaking about eco-design at The Green Show

Max McMurdo is a young, up and coming UK-based designer with a stated commitment to produce contemporary furniture with an eco-friendly twist for Reestore, the company he founded in 2002. With a background in Product Design and Visualisation gained from his time as a student in Bournemouth, Max takes everyday waste objects that would otherwise end up on landfill sites and cheekily turns them into charming yet functional pieces of furniture and accessories. An old washing machine drum becomes 'Silvana', a stylish side table with internal light (energy saving light bulb, of course!), discarded super market shopping trolleys are reclaimed and re-purposed into striking and much talked about office chairs, known as 'Annies'.

In recognition of his unerring commitment to design stylish, yet eco-friendly furniture, Max has been named as one of the 'Expert Judges' for The Observer's annual 'Ethical Awards' for the second year andÊalso featured on the popular BBC programme 'Dragons' Den in 2007 where wowed the fiery 'Dragons' with his eco furniture, securing investment from Deborah Meaden and Theo Pathitas in a fierce bidding war between the 'Dragons'.

Love London

The Green Show would like to bring your attention to the Love London Festival. Check out their website by clicking the logo below.

Love London is an annual festival of events that promote the environment, sustainability and community action across London. This integrated campaign of events enables community groups, organisations and individuals to promote their events, and get themselves, their ideas and their events noticed. The diversity and scale of the Love London Festival means that it spreads the word of how we can care for the environment and make our lives more sustainable for the future. Love London influences and encourages people to take action on the environmental issues that will affect us today and in the future.

Love London 2008 will run from the 1st to the 21st June, adding an extra week to the festival compared to previous years. Many events have already been confirmed as of February 2008, and the Love London team are planning and receiving events submissions to become part of the festival.

The Green Show Exhibitor Policy

Some 'green' shows exclude 'non-green' organisation. However, at The Green Show, we take the absolute opposite view. Almost no-one is excluded: Every company, organisation, individual or group that wishes to can exhibit at The Green Show, including retailers, energy companies and manufacturers. The Green Show is strongly in favour of engaging ALL sectors of modern society - it is only by doing so that we can move forward. Companies that are engaged in manifestly reprehensible activies (cigarettes, arms, fur etc) will not be welcome, but then they probably wouldn't want to come anyway!

As organisers, we will only check the materials that exhibitors wish to distribute at the show (reused, recycled, recyclable): we will not be checking the environmental credentials of exhibitors. We believe that it is for every organisation to make an effort to reduce its environmental impact: everyone has to start somewhere, and nobody is perfect. We look forward to a hearty debate on this matter.

The Green Show floor plan is now available

The Green Show floor plan is now available (click here to view). The floor plan has been developed to offer all exhibitors optimal positioning, either adjacent to features, or on routes between features. The floor plan also features an 'eco-village' which will form a feature in itself: smaller exhibiting companies will be able to take a 3m-diameter floor space to lay out their 'wares.'

The Green Show is intimately connected with The Family Show, with visitors to both shows able to freely access the other show.

The Green Show Environmental Policy

Our show ‘green policy’ and efforts:

> As a green consumer show, we aim to have zero net impact on the environment.
> Around 90% of emissions associated with exhibitions come from the transport of exhibitors and visitors to the show. We will promote travel to the event by bike/tube/train/bus – There will be discounts/refunds on the show entry if you can provide proof of travel by public transport (rail or bus ticket).
> We will use an award-winning venue with a well-developed environmental impact abatement and sustainability plan.
> We will make sure papers and leaflets in welcome packs are recycled and/or recyclable.
> We will use biodegradable and low-impact bags for welcome packs, etc.
> We will use the carpet provided by the venue, rather then buying new.
> There will be recycling stations around the hall for cans/paper/bottles/etc..
> We will minimise energy useage, e.g. minimising the heating or cooling of the venue; we will use a venue with maximum natural light.
> We will consider the impact of products and services we use, and use environmentally friendly alternatives where possible.
> We will check the environmetal accreditation of the suppliers we use.
> We will make sure that we provide details of our green policy to show visitors, alongside further ‘green tips’.

> We will offset emissions created by the event that are unavoidable, using a reputable organisation such as Climate Care.
